In America, it seems we have one big problem and then another. Right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have major unrest in our city streets which began with the death of George Floyd under the knee of a policeman. Peaceful legal protest began and then groups and individuals escalated the situation into riots and looting. All of it is heart-breaking. Jesus told us to love our neighbor; this is what I always strive to do by God’s grace. The only antidote for hate is love, not more hate.

The world has been turned side-ways with the response to the COVID-19. Our hearts hurt for those who have lost love ones, suffered the sickness, forced out of work, lost money, or at the very least been inconvenienced. Everyone has been affected.
Journey Update: April 2020
The coronavirus situation has not only dominated the news, it has also dominated our lives with schools closing, Stay At Home Orders, and churches having only live stream church services. We are in difficult days and we are not sure when the end date will be.
Journey Update: March 2020
The news cycle has been filled with the corona virus. Butch Suddath and I just got back from India when cases of the COVID-19 virus jumped from China to other places on the globe. Airport officials are much more alert now to travelers with possible symptoms and some people exposed have been quarantined for 14 days, the maximum incubation time for the virus.
Journey Update: February 2020
The past month of January was almost consumed with our Journey to India. One week prior to leaving in preparation, two weeks on the journey, and one week recovering from jet-lag and catching up on the home-front. It was a long journey but a great and rewarding trip for Pastor Butch Suddath and I. Pastor Reddy and his family took great care of us by receiving us into their home, feeding us, and driving almost 800 miles in our time together.

A new decade is upon us! The year 2020 is here and a lot has happened in the last ten years—some good and some bad. It seems the world is a little crazier now than then. Tens years ago, there were many things in our culture that was not acceptable but now is celebrated. The scripture describes our time quite well, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20 NKJV)! People’s attitude toward sin changes like the wind but God and His Word does not change. Truth is not fluid.

Things have been more than busy—they have been crazy. Along with the normal ministry and family duties, there are certain seasons or periods of time when a bunch of things seem to happen at once.

We received sad news from Haiti this past month. The mother of Pastor Baptiste died on August 20th. She had a stroke some time ago and just never recovered from it. We assisted the family with the funeral—thanks to everyone who helped financially with the funeral.

The old timers would say we are in the dog days of summer. I have heard this all my life and envision lazy hound dogs seeking a cool shade under an old farmhouse porch. However, the “dog days” of summer goes back to Roman times when they associated the star, Sirius (Dog Star) with the hottest days of summer. It is during this time the tilt of the earth causes the Northern Hemisphere to be the hottest time because our hemisphere gets a more direct hit of the sun’s rays.
