The old timers would say we are in the dog days of summer. I have heard this all my life and envision lazy hound dogs seeking a cool shade under an old farmhouse porch. However, the “dog days” of summer goes back to Roman times when they associated the star, Sirius (Dog Star) with the hottest days of summer. It is during this time the tilt of the earth causes the Northern Hemisphere to be the hottest time because our hemisphere gets a more direct hit of the sun’s rays.
Oh, you know there is a spiritual lesson in this! If we tilt ourselves so we can receive a more direct hit of the Holy Spirit; we will be the “hottest” for the Kingdom of God. I have been trying to put myself at the correct tilt by meditating on God’s Word and soaking in the rays of the Holy Spirit in times of prayer. I would encourage us all to “catch some rays”.
I want to praise God for His bountiful supply and to thank everyone who has supported us financially. July is always an expensive month because of the school uniforms. We sent the funds to Haiti the last week of July for all the school uniforms for our approximate 400 students this coming school year. The funds for the books will be sent a little closer to school opening.
The Lord’s work through Pathway Outreach touches the lives of about 2,500 people each week with spiritual nourishment in five countries of the world and provides approximately 70,000 meals each year. We are a simple organization, made up of very ordinary people–only God can do this. We give Him all the praise and glory!
The amount of funds needed each month could be overwhelming, but it is not. Our reliance is upon God and we have learned to trust Him. This is not boasting on our part but boasting on Jesus! We have come to know that the Lord will provide for what he deems important. Simply put—we try to keep our focus on those things we understand to be important to Him. Through prayer and the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we seek the Lord’s direction and provision. And we try to keep our friends and partners informed of our activities. Through all this God inspires and directs His people to help us.
I do not have proper words to thank you for your prayers, encouragement, interest, and financial support of Pathway Outreach Ministries. Thank you and God bless you!
Rejoicing in the salvation which is by grace through faith, I am…
Yours on the Journey,
