Better and Faster Than Fiber Optic

Living out in the country has many benefits. I am a country boy at heart and in the flesh. I love not having my backyard joined to another. A big disadvantage since the dawn of high-speed internet is living out in the sticks. Our internet has been painfully slow. Hope is on the way, in about six weeks or so, gigabytes will arrive. We have fiber optic internet coming soon. WooHoo!

Some of the line workers have been in our area. Salesmen have been knocking on our doors and we have been saying, “Where can we sign!”

One of the line splicers was working in my yard today. Nice guy! Being the old man with a thousand questions, I was hindering his work like ole men tend to do. He showed me the single strain of the fiber optic. It is amazing the information and signals that can travel that little glass-like, hair-thin wire.

I told him there was one communication that was even better than fiber optic. He looked puzzled, and asked, “Like what?” I said, “Like my communication with Heaven—it’s like super-instant!” He smiled, “Yeah, you’re right!” He was either a believer or just wanted to humor the old man.

Even with lightning-fast communication technology, there are some important-earth-people who would never answer my call. Yet, the Creator of the Universe, hears our prayers and even knows what they will be before we even ask it. Now, that’s fast communication.

If I start walking toward God, in less than a footstep I trip over Him. He knows what we need even before we ask or take a step.

If we yell, “HELP ME JESUS!!!” He is there before we gulp air to start the “H” sound.

The Holy Spirit even knows what we mean, when nothing but groans rumble from our chests.

Tomorrow God showed up yesterday. He is never on time; He is before time. We didn’t notice Him here before we saw Him there.

He knew us before He said, “Let there be light.” We were not an afterthought in His five and half days of creation. The five and half days were the preparation for mankind on the round-out of day six.

Our God is the God of the Possible when everything looks impossible. Nothing is too difficult for Him. He has infinite power with eternal speed.

I’m thankful I get to serve such a God as this. Who loves me. Gave His Son Jesus for me on the cross. And calls me to sit with Him in heavenly places. He knows me and knows my needs.

I’m waiting for the “Beam Me Up” event (the tech guy did not know when I would get hooked up either.) Until then, I’m going to keep living in His presence day by day, second by second, 247 zeptoseconds by 247 zeptoseconds. [For you nerds out there, 247 zeptoseconds is the shortest time interval recorded. It is the time a light particle (photon) travels across a hydrogen molecule.] God can snap His finger faster than a zeptosecond—ask me how I know!

Yours on the Journey,
Harry L. Whitt

PHOTO NOTE: That one little thin fiber optic line shown in my featured photo will carry 1 gigabyte of data per second into my home. That will equate to about 350 typical photos per second in either an upload or download. The duller, thicker part shown is the insulation and the little, tiny, shiny thread at the end is the actual ‘wire’ (some type of glass). Amazing!
