Christians are sometimes criticized for claiming our religion is exclusive when we are adamant that Jesus Christ is the only avenue to eternal life. That is why I am evangelistic about my faith in Christ; it is not that I take pleasure in someone being excluded but rather I have strongly held beliefs about Jesus Christ. The invitation to follow Jesus is inclusive, “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13 NKJV).
Five Things I Would Do Differently At 18
Here are Five Things I would do differently if I were 18 again:
Journey Update — June 2018
On a recent Sunday, I preached using as one of my texts, Psalm 119:32 (NKJV), “I will run the course of Your commandments, For You shall enlarge my heart.” God works to enlarge our hearts so we can embrace the Kingdom of God and our place in it. The Lord has touched my heart once again to stretch my faith so that we can stretch our reach in the name of the Lord. I don’t know yet what more He has in store for us but I feel the rumblings of the Holy Spirit within me. The Lord will enlarge our hearts to encompass His leading into the furtherance of His Kingdom into this world. Stay tuned…
Direction Indicates Destination
When I leave my home I travel a little over three miles before coming to a “T” intersection. I have a choice then of going north or south; that is my only choice. If I turn north, you could say I’m going toward the city of Boaz or Albertville but if I turn south, you could say I’m going toward Attalla or Gadsden. Our direction of travel indicates our destination. How foolish people would think me to be, if I traveled north hoping to arrive at a city to the south. So it is with life, too many folks are traveling north with the thought of arriving somewhere south.
While it is Day
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4 NKJV).
Some people have a problem when they hit thirty years of age. Not me, it was forty for me. When you reach the age of your father when you were born, your father will be Continue reading “While it is Day”
Light of the World
Light of the World
Jesus said He was the light of the world, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12 NKJV).
These statements on the surface may seem to be light and cheery; something to put on a decorative poster or on a greeting card. Yet the underlying truth to this statement belies a dark truth—we live in a dark world. The evening news reports mostly on the darkness; a car-bombing, an outbreak of cholera in a third world country, a flu epidemic here, or another war there. DARKNESS!!
A Season of Increase
As we enter a New Year and time of introspection, we should think about a new season of increase. Often when discussions begin about increase we naturally go the material side of things but we also need to think of increase as it relates to the Kingdom of God. We, as the Body of Christ, are an outpost of the Kingdom of God in this world.
