You may be wondering like me—where has this year gone? Wow, it is hard to believe, we are just a few weeks away from 2020! In this month, we gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of Jesus and stand in amazement of God coming in the likeness of man in the person of Jesus the Christ.
One of my favorite scriptures concerning Jesus coming to earth is Philippians 2:5-8 (NKJV):
(5) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
(6) who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
(7) but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
(8) And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
The birth of Jesus was in the midst of earthly humility but in the grand plan of God it was of the most glorious and awesome events in the history of the world.
So, to catch you up on our ministry activities. Our CareBoxes are on their way to Haiti. We shipped 665 boxes along with some other things the first week of November. They are probably in Haitian customs now, awaiting their release. Haiti has had many troubles this past year and we are praying for our shipment to get to our school unscathed. Please pray for safe passage through customs and on the road from Port au Prince to our school near Leogane.
Our school in Haiti has stayed open for the most part during these troubles. They have missed a few days in concern for our children’s safety. From my information, the schools in Port au Prince have been closed for the most part for a number of months. Please pray for the peace and prosperity of Haiti. Coming up in January, Butch Suddath and I will be journeying to South Asia for two weeks. The weeks are clicking by for our departure. I have been working on this trip for some time. There is more to the planning aspect than meets the eye. The round trip entails a total of four international flights and two in-country flights on two different airlines plus a hotel reservation prior to our homeward bound international flight. We had to apply for a visa for which we have been approved. Then there is travel medical insurance to obtain and our bags are not even packed!
It is a long journey and is literally on the other side of the world. I don’t even bother to change the time on my watch. When I talk with my wife on the phone, she will be basically 12 hours different than me. If I am having my morning coffee on Saturday, she will be settled in for her Friday night in our home. It feels like being in a time machine. Crazy!!
We will be preaching in several pastor conferences and in several village churches. It will be an exciting trip to see all that the Lord will do. We ask for your prayers. We are journeying with Jesus, trying to be the light and life of Jesus to others.
The year 2020 looks to be an interesting year. We are also looking toward another journey to Cuba in April. And then to Haiti in June. We are praying about some possible opportunities involving more home missions as well.
The whole world is available via the internet. It is important to take advantage of every opportunity to share the love and life of Jesus with the world. We have dipped our toes in the online waters. Loyce Bradley Petrey, one our board members and associate minister is revamping our website. We have had a continual growing ministry on our blog site reaching thousands of people in over 40 different countries with the written word.
We thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. Your partnership with us in the Kingdom of God is always near to our hearts.
Rejoicing in the salvation, which is by grace through faith, I am…
Yours on the Journey,
Harry L. Whitt
My prayers are with you and your ministry. It is an honor to call you a friend.
