If you have ever cared for children, you realize how short their attention span and how elusive their contentment. If you have ever supervised or worked with adults, you realize how very few children grow up. Why are people discontented? That’s a million dollar question that can be answered with a nickel answer. Selfish pursuit of an evaporating cloud!

You may be like me, your travel bags are currently gathering dust but your head and heart are looking for travel down the road.
My blog PathwayJourney.com is not a travel blog but before the dreaded Coronavirus curtailed international travel I was making about three to four international journeys per year.
On my blog site I have a menu item of “Travel Tips” on my home page that contains five separate articles ranging from “Money Concerns Abroad” to “Safe Water Abroad”.
Take a look…

Journey Update: August 2020
One of our big projects every year is providing school uniforms and books for our students in Haiti. God has blessed us with some great partners; we received and transferred the needed funds in July. Praise the name of Jesus! We thank each one of you who helped with this. School will be starting on August 12th in Haiti which is earlier than usual, so your timely and generous giving was a special blessing this year.

America was once the poster child of free thought and free speech. It seems that the greatest proponents of free speech in our history were those in government, academia, and the press. In recent years they appear to be increasingly the ones who want to silence those who disagree with them. People want to fortify their own narratives than to formulate real solutions. At least that’s my observation.

Imagine being lost on a remote mountainside with that feeling of desperation closing in on you when all hope is gone. Then just around a boulder you see a “cairn”. A cairn you say! Yes, it is an unnatural stack of stones left by a former traveler showing you the way.

This morning as I was praying, I prayed, “Lord, I want to add one more voice [mine] to the many voices bringing you glory today.” It was then my mind began to think of the “one”. I am only one, you also are only one, yet Christ who died for all, still loves the one.

Baskin-Robbins has 31 different flavors of ice cream; three will do. I have read that there are over a thousand different flavors of ice cream. A good question might be, “Why do we have to complicate things?” In the early years of my childhood, I thought that vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry were the only flavors on the planet, and I was good with that.

If loving your enemies was easy, everyone would do it. Hate, unforgivingness, and retribution is the default attitude of a broken world. Love, forgiveness, and reconciliation is the default attitude of the Kingdom of God. I have decided to follow Jesus not the crowd.
Matthew 5:43-45 NKJV
[43] “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ [44] But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, [45] that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Is Equality a Myth?
A friend once asked me why as a Christian, I was against gambling. I told him that the Bible did not directly address gambling as, “Thou shalt not gamble.” My answer was one he did not expect. I referred to the words of Jesus as found in Matthew 22:39 (NKJV), “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” In gambling, my neighbor must lose for me to gain; am I being Christlike if I want my neighbor to lose money for me to gain money?

Happy Independence Day to all my fellow citizens in the USA! I pray you and your family have a safe and fun celebration this coming weekend. It is a very difficult time in our country and we need to pray. Please pray for our country. I have found myself praying with more fervency than ever.
