Journey Update: March 2019

It seems every time I write a monthly update, I say something about the weather.  So as I write this, we are seeing on the news the damage and loss of life in Lee County, Alabama from last night’s tornado (3-3-19).  We are praying for all who were affected.  Natural disasters are a sad reminder that we live in a fallen world.

We were scheduled to travel to Haiti in February.  Our tickets were purchased and our bags packed but we had to reschedule due to the widespread protests.  The roads from the airport to Leogane were barricaded and the streets were crowded with protestors filled with anger and frustration over government corruption, gas and food prices, etc.  The U.S. State Department had raised the travel advisory to the highest point of Level 4. Things have calmed down, so Butch Suddath and I will be going this month.  Please pray for us as we journey into Haiti.  Pray for our continual work in Haiti.   The country of Haiti needs prayer for peace, stabilization, prosperity, and that the Kingdom of God would prevail in this corner of the world.

People ask me if I am ever scared to travel to some of these places in the world.  My short answer is yes.  Sometimes, it is a little “sketchy”.  I am not an Indiana Jones kind-of-guy, I am not fearless.  I guess, I am just crazy enough to believe God.  I believe God is a Big God and He has called me to this work.  So I go and leave the outcome in His hands.  I have a dream of being a very old man with my family gathered around watching me take my last breath.  But as I often say, “You can go to Heaven from anywhere!”

I preached my first sermon almost 36 years ago.  A lot has changed in those years.  The church world has changed.  Our country and the world has greatly changed for the worse.  But God has not changed.  My faith is in Him and today as never before, I really believe God can do anything!  Instead of wringing my hands and crying woe is me; I am going to look up, put my faith in Jesus, and push forward with all the unction He will give me!  This journey is not over!

Thank you for being on this journey with us.  We appreciate so much your prayers, encouragement, and financial support.  You are a great blessing to this ministry.  People throughout the world feel your love as you impact them through your loving support of Pathway Outreach.  We try very hard to be faithful and good stewards of all the Lord puts in our hands and to all He has called us to do.

Rejoicing in the salvation which is by grace through faith, I am…

Yours on the Journey,

Harry L. Whitt

    1. Great perspective! I hope to get close to that standard of faithfulness you describe. Jesus is powerful, good, and faithful. I am thankful He has invited me to the journey with him. Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. Blessings to you!!
