Revelation of Jesus
How many cold hearts have yearned for salvation’s heat but found no ember in my heart?
Who has longed for the peace of Christ but found only trouble on my tongue?
What number looked for Jesus but found no resemblance of His image in my life?
What crippled beggar has longed for someone with the hope of Jesus but my feet never sought him out?
What man hanging on danger’s precipice who never felt Christ reaching out through my hand to lift him up?
What stranger’s child only wanted love but never saw a smiling Jesus through my face?
When did they see Jesus? When did I see Jesus in them; in the hungry, in the thirsty, in the stranger, in the naked, in the sick, and in the prisoner?
They were all looking for Jesus in me, in you—what if we never see Jesus in them, the least of these.
Perhaps if I see Jesus in them, they would see Jesus in me. If they could see Jesus in me then they could foresee Jesus in themselves.
Then and only then could we all see Jesus as Who He really is. He is the Savior of the lost, the least, and the lonely. He is the sacrifice once dead but now living for the sinner trapped in His sin. He is life to the dying, He is light to those in darkness, He is everything to those with nothing. He is Jesus—in them, in me, and now in us.
