Finding Joy in Surrender: Embracing God’s Plan for Fulfillment

We exist for God’s purpose not our own. Sure, we existed in the mind of God before He said, “Let there be light.” What a crazy thought but true. Yet, God does not exist so we can live happy, contented, and fulfilled lives. We exist for His pleasure and the fulfillment of His plan in and through us.

Too often, we try to set our life agenda and only ask God to bless our plans. If only we would seek His perfect will and purpose, then more things would come together in the right way. Why do we often think we have a better plan than God?

Jesus said, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matt. 10:39 NKJV). This scripture brings thoughts of a life or death moment with a Roman sword at our throats. Yet, in reality it is more of a life-journey surrendered to Jesus instead of going our own way.

When we surrender our lives to His purpose and delight, we are then filled with joy and fulfillment. Our joy comes from being in His purpose and surrounded by His presence. Our joy is generated from the life that flows from His heart. It is as if our arteries are connected to His heart. When we are rightly connected to God through Jesus Christ, we can experience the joyful fulfillment of life.

Our circumstances do not determine our joy. Being in a powerful life-flowing relationship with Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit gives us joy that is beyond any description. It all starts by surrendering to Him and to His purpose for our lives.

How do we surrender? Study the Bible. Pray often. Fellowship in a community of believers. Trust God and listen to His voice. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Learn from our mistakes. Seek His presence through personal worship. Obey God. Live humbly as a servant.

My prayer:  Lord, let your desires be fulfilled in my life by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Yours on the Journey,

Harry Whitt
