Life is too short to get tied up in knots over things that should not matter. I know that is easier to say than to do. People and things are always tugging at our shirt tails for attention like a three-year-old wanting a cookie.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Stay true to the calling God has on your life. People will try to project what they think is important onto you. Their priority is not your priority. God’s opinion is more important than other people’s opinion. Help people with their projects when you can, but do not forsake your calling for their whim.
Stay faithful to your family. Those who will cry over your grave are more important than those who will not even read your obituary to the last line.
Ask yourself this question, “Will this matter in one hundred years?” Time has a way of washing out the unimportant. The things I thought were so important as a senior in high school are now tucked away in a faded dream.
We usually worry the most about things we cannot change. How silly is that! If we could change the situation, then change it. If we do not have the power to change it, how will worrying help?
Do not gamble your life away on dreams of grandeur. Very few people make it BIG! Life’s war is won on the battlefield of small everyday victories. Do something productive every day. Show love and kindness as you go. Give what you can to relieve someone else’s burden. Treat strangers with courtesy, those in your care with respect, your elders with honor, and most of all follow Jesus to be like Him.
We all will eventually die!! Enjoy life, family, and friends. Don’t let tomorrow’s woes steal today’s joys. Do your best in the things God has called you to do. Take care of your family and friends. Try to leave your corner of the world a little better than you found it. God will sort out the rest.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8 NKJV)
I do not want to minimize whatever you may be going through, sometimes earth can feel more like hell than heaven. However, we can turn heaven into hell by sweating the small stuff. I want you to be blessed!
Yours on the Journey,
Harry L. Whitt

we all need to remember this everyday, thank you

For sure! It is too easy for the urgent to overwhelm the things most important.
