The calling of God’s work must be greater than our strength or it is only the work of a man. If it can be accomplished outside of God’s power, it is the mere work of man. The work of God’s kingdom is accomplished only by the strength and power of God.
Jesus said it very plainly in John 15:4-5 (NKJV). “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
When a person believes he has a God-given calling in His kingdom, he must see something beyond himself. With such a calling or dream, there are two possible outcomes. One, it is a miracle only God can do. Secondly, we look foolish. The fear of failure or looking foolish causes many to not pursue the work of God.
When we follow the call of God with obedience, there will always be people who think we are crazy. There will always be naysayers, just steady yourself for criticism. Often criticism is an affirmation that you are on the right track.
Those who venture beyond their own strength are on the same path as those who change the world. God sends shepherd boys with rocks to kill Goliaths. Jesus told His disciples to feed a multitude with five loaves and two fish. It all looks foolish to the world but Heaven cheers us on.
First, be sure it is God speaking and not your own ambition. Secondly, trust and obey God when you know it is His voice. Always be diligent in God’s work and He will strengthen you on your journey.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29 NKJV (27) But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; (28) and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, (29) that no flesh should glory in His presence.
