Obscurity of Earth and the Known of Heaven

In the world of social media and in the nature of man, there is a desire by many to be recognized and perhaps even be famous.  Many want to become the next  TikTok or YouTube sensation.  Perhaps we should be more concerned about being known in Heaven.

We should not seek fame but seek to be more like Jesus. It is more important to be obedient to His purpose than to desire His help with our plans. If we are faithful to His purpose then we will be among those known in Heaven.

Most of us will live in obscurity on earth. The vast majority of us will be completely forgotten two generations after our death. Most graves are eventually unvisited. Remember, those old forgotten family photos that hang on Cracker Barrel Restaurant walls next to an old rusty relic were once real families.

One of the most important aspects of our lives is to be the fulfillment of Christ’s purpose. If He receives glory from the road we travelled and the life we lived then that will be enough. Heaven will be a place of great rewards.

Whether, we are applauded or ridiculed on earth is not as important as to be declared a “good and faithful servant” in Heaven.

Seeking the fame on earth is the fleeting fancy of the futile soul. To be known in Heaven as a servant of God is man’s highest fulfillment.

To be found in God’s perfect will, however large or small in the eyes of men, is to walk in the greatest of God.  Obscurity on earth may yield one of Heaven’s greatest illuminations.

Let us walk on earth in obscurity if God so chooses.  If He wills for us to have fame, then walk in humility and use it for God’s good. It is better to shine in Heaven than to be a star on earth.

Let us walk in the dark corners of the earth so we may lead others to the glory of Jesus. It is better that the next generation forget us and knows Jesus who died for them.

Lord, send us to the last, the least, and the unknown, so they can become the first, the greatest, and the known in Heaven.

Your on the Journey,

Harry L. Whitt
